As its name, this trip goes around the foothills of Mt. Everest (8,848m) in the Khumbu region, Nepal. Through several cultural villages of Sherpa people, this trekking route features a wide range of mountain scenery. If you want to do soft trekking but see the best view of some of the highest mountains in the world, it would be a perfect option.

We begin our 12-days Everest Foothill Trek from Kathmandu with a cultural tour to few UNESCO world heritage sites before flying to the Everest region. Starting from Lukla, we trek all the way up to the village of Tengboche (3,860m) and return back taking a detour to some of the authentic mountain settlements. Tengboche offers a panoramic view of towering peaks such as Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse and many more.

Day 4: Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m): 5-6 hours’ trek

Day 6: Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3,810m): 4 hours’ trek

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)

A representative form Trek Through team will receive you at Kathmandu airport (TIA) and takes you to the hotel. He will give you brief insights about Kathmandu, it’s culture, lifestyle and some do’s and don’ts. At evening we will organize a welcome dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Nepali taste.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing tour

Breakfast is followed by guided tour to some of UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. One of our knowledgeable city guides will escort us to Swyambhunath stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhnath stupa. Explore cultural and artistic masterpieces. At evening, we’ll do pre-trip discussion and needed preparations.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,651m): 3-4 hours’ trek

We’ll take a morning flight to Lukla. It is a 30-minute flight passing over beautiful high hills and mountain peaks. At Lukla, you’ll meet our all the crew members and begin the trekking. The way to Phakding would be a gradual downhill trail offering some glimpse of Mt. Khumbila (18,900ft). Overnight in a local tea house of Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m): 5-6 hours’ trek

The journey begins with walking through beautiful pine forest and extends over to valley of Benkar, several Sherpa villages, and alongside Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. The final portion of today’s trek, just before reaching to Namche is steep up. Make it slow and enjoy the challenge. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization Day

A day of rest is needed to acclimatize our body at this elevation. Today you’ll have full day to explore around the modern town of Namche bazaar. It has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a colorful market. Your guide will take you around and explains its real charm. A cup of coffee at an internet café and fine mountain peaks at front would be a coolest experience. Make it real and stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Khumjung (3,810m): 4 hours’ trek

The day begins with uphill trek up to the famous airstrip of Syangboche. Further hike to Everest view hotel for the enchanting view of Mt. Everest and more. Khumjung is a beautiful village located elegantly at the foothill of Thamserku, Khumbila and Kondge mountains. Overnight Khumjung.

Day 07: Khumjung to Tengboche (3,870m): 4-5 hours’ trek

The dramatic trail passes through several villages, riverbeds and pine and fir forests. The panoramic view of Everest range all throughout the way till to Tengboche is very much admirable. Tengboche has a famous Tengboche Gomba, the largest monastery in Khumbu region of Nepal. You can visit there and explore its arts and artifacts. Enjoy the closeup beauty of authentic Nepalese Himalayas such as Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Everest, Tawache, Nuptse and Lhotse.

Day 10: Monjo to Lukla: 4 hours’ trek

From Monjo, the trail descends steeply down towards the villages of Phakding, Ghat, and Chopping We’ll cross Dudh Koshi river quite a few times before we end it to Lukla. We’ll celebrate our accomplishment with all the crew before we say goodbye to the local staffs. Overnight Lukla.
